It was none other than the Western League wherein by 1901 was changed to what is popularly recognized as the American League. By 1903, the two unions made a convergence that ushered to the dawning of the World Series. After the fateful meeting, Boston Pilgrims of the National League and Pittsburgh Pirates of the American League played.

Today, the National League and the American League is already one which is known as the Major League Baseball (MLB).
