Baseball Tips

So, you want to go into the majors? This is certainly something that anyone interested in baseball can do, provided you have constant practice and drills. Sure, you know how to pitch, catch, throw, and hit that hard ball. But do you have it in you to stick it out when the going gets tough? Baseball is indeed a fun sport, but it can be a tough sport to play at times. This is why it is useful to have a handful of baseball tips in mind. These baseball tips just might be your key to the pros, you know. So, what are some of these baseball tips that are important?

Let us first tackle baseball hitting tips. Now, you just might be one of those rare players who have that natural ability of hitting the ball right off the bat. You wouldn’t know how you do it exactly, but you can hit any type of baseball pitch easily. This is something only a few of the professional baseball players have. The rest have gained their hitting skills through constant practice. So, how do you go about hitting a baseball? First off is your stance. It is very important for you to be comfortable when you’re up at the plate already. This way, you are able to pay attention to the speeding ball when it is pitched at you. But you should not be too comfortable as well. This can lead to a fragile stance, which is something all baseball players should avoid. Fragile stances can lead to poor hits.

Aside from the stance, you should also employ proper weight shift. The best baseball players shift their weight to their rear foot. This means that if you are right-handed, your weight would be shifted to your right foot. The opposite goes for left-handed batters. Your arms should be positioned away from your body, with them parallel to the ground. Your head should be positioned right across the pitcher’s mound, so as to be able to keep your eye constantly on the ball. And now, for your grip of the bat. Make sure that you have your knuckles properly lined up, straight and firm. Your grip should be firm, but not too firm; loose, but not too loose. There has to be a tandem to this. If you hit the bat too loosely, the point of impact would not be as strong as needed. And if you hit the bat too tightly, your natural swing would be affected because your muscles are too taut.

Let’s move on to baseball pitching tips. The first thing to do here is to establish a comfortable position. This way, when you are winding up for the pitch, your muscles are properly relaxed. Your body has to be square right on the plate. And after you wind up, your arms should be swung in a downward motion, so as to establish speed for your pitch. Upon the release of the ball, do not let it out of your sight until it reaches the catcher’s mitt or the batter’s glove. This way, you can be sure to stay out of the way, should the ball be hit towards you. You are throwing a hard ball towards a batter who will aim to hit it back. You never know where the ball just might fly. So, keep your eye on the ball constantly.

As for catching skills, position is actually everything here. A low squat should be employed by the catcher, with his weight shifted on the balls of his feet, not his soles. Remember that the pitcher will be all over the plate. There is no guarantee that the pitcher will be pitching constant strikes or balls. So, it is important to be constantly on the lookout for the next pitch. This way, you can be sure to stay out of the way, should your position be compromised as well.
