Fox was able to achieve this when he was still playing for the Chicago White Sox. This was in the year 1959. Herman, on the other hand, achieved this in the year 1963, when he was still playing for the Chicago Cubs.

Another one of the major league baseball facts is how Barry Bonds was able to hit his 500th home run way back in 2001. This made Bonds just the 17th player who’s able to reach this figure from the majors. And the pitcher who gave Bonds the opportunity to do this was Terry Adams. And if you want to know fun facts on baseball, then you should know this piece of trivia yourself as well! If you’re the avid baseball fan, then you surely must have noticed that a lot of teams like to wear pinstripes on their baseball uniforms nowadays. But the first two teams to have worn pinstripes for uniforms are actually the Giants and the Phillies. This was in the year 1911. And since we’re on the subject of uniforms, do you know how long it has been since the first ever baseball uniform was worn? It was in 1849 that this was first worn! This is over a century ago! The first ever team to have worn this was the Knickerbockers. What’s really fun about this is that the uniform was comprised of blue trousers, a white shirt, and a straw hat! Yes, a straw hat. Imagine the players back then sliding down bases, holding on to their hats!

And what about the time when Washington’s very own William Hoy struck out three runners at a single plate in just a single game? If you are not familiar with this, then it could be because this took place way back in 1889. And it is for this very reason that Hoy made it into the baseball record books!

These teams were Boston and Pittsburgh, way back in 1903. The series involved nine games, and it was Boston that won the series, at five games to three. And the team that has won the most number of World Series titles is actually the New York Yankees! And this figure goes all the way up to 26 titles! What’s more, the Yankees’ very own Mickey Mantle has held the record for most career home runs, which adds up to 18! Mantle was the former right fielder for the Yankees.

And Baltimore’s very own shortstop, Cal Ripken, Jr., had never missed a game in 16 straight years! Ripken was the Orioles’ shortstop then. In the period from April 30, 1982, all the way up to September 19, 1998, Ripken was able to play more than 2,600 games! The exact figure is actually 2,632! Talk about passion!
